Duration: 2021 - 2024
The goal of this project is the quantitative analysis of carbon reduction policies, namely Carbon Tax and Cap and Trade. For each of these policies, an optimal control model will be formulated; for Carbon Tax, the tax rate will serve as the control, for Cap and Trade, the controls will include the amounts of freely allocated allowances and the timing of their auctioning.
Duration: 2021 - 2024
We will propose a mathematically lucid setting for the derivation of reduced models from nonlinear continuum thermomechanics. We will justify linearized models in thermoviscoelasticity and viscoplasticity as limits of the nonlinear deformation theory employing variational convergence.
Duration: 2021 - 2025
The aim of the project is to develop analytical tools to support the investigation of the locomotion of soft-bodied animals and robots, with a focus on limbless locomotion. Topics such as stabilization to limit cycles, optimal control and multiscale models will be studied.
Duration: 2021 - 2022
We will propose a mathematically lucid setting for the derivation of reduced models from nonlinear continuum thermomechanics. We will justify linearized models in thermoviscoelasticity and viscoplasticity as limits of the nonlinear deformation theory employing variational convergence.
Duration: 2019 - 2021
The aim of the project is to apply the methods of polyhedral geometry to solve mathematical problems with motivation in statistics and artificial intelligence.
